A Job Well Done

What ever happened to a job well done? It seems like everyone is in such a hurry these days that no one really does anything right the first go around. I mean multi-tasking is great, but what about getting it done right the first time? Productivity would be much higher if we did things the old fashion way: the right way. So, this is a salute to A JOB WELL DONE!

Weekends are the best. When it comes to the end of a busy workweek, nothing beats a weekend to cap off the week with a huge dose of downtime: fun a requirement. And Saturdays are right at the core of every weekend. Some of my favorite Saturday activities include: afternoon naps, catching up on some reading, gadget shopping, video games and watching really bad movies on TV. Favorite evening activities include going out to hear some music/bands, renting movies, and watching one of my favorite TV shows: Law & Order. During cooler parts of the year the list may also include hiking/walking and picture taking outings.

Last Saturday I had a very good day – a perfect Saturday. This is beside the fact that my ancient cell phone finally went out on me. It had been on the blink for some time. The battery would not hold much of charge, calls began dropping, and it no longer rang every time a call came in despite the fact that the ringer was on high. It would even turn off by itself for no reason! And still I was in good spirit. In the afternoon I ran some errands and got a hair cut. Yes, I am growing my hair out! The rest of the day I spent relaxing and staying cool (it was rather hot outside).

Sundays may not be the core of the weekend as Saturdays are, but they are just as important. Being the “official” day of rest, Sundays do tend to be very relaxing. They also tend to be days filled with reflection. This may be true, but Sundays also usually include some work: those errands and chores that need to get done before the next week, but were put off. One last chance, man! And so I am off on this Sunday afternoon, to take care of an errand: getting a new cell phone.

I use to consider myself having a strong sense of willpower and the ability to resist it with ease. I never had a problem saying "no" to it. Even though "everyone was doing it", I was able to steer clear. That is not the case anymore. It was an average Saturday afternoon, not too long ago. It was not unlike many other Saturday afternoons being spent surfing the internet, playing computer games, or napping. And that is when it snuck in. It began with one. Then two. Then three, and so on. Now some Saturdays it is up to 5 or 6 while weekdays (yes, weekdays too) it is not unusual to have a few each evening. And while I am at work, it is all that is on my mind. That sound. I just will not leave my brain. Now, I can imagine what you might be thinking...no, it is nothing like that. My addiction is L&O: Law & Order. Yes, that is correct, the television program. It is one of my "programs" now. I use to really dislike the show, all the shows. I especially use to dislike "SVU". Now it is my favorite, mainly because of the cast. The other L&O shows are right behind "SVU". And that is my excuse for the delay in this post, my L&O addiction. If it has not gotten you yet, you don't know what your missing.

Blogger's itch?

When I started this blog, I was doing so without any intention of keeping it. Previously, I had set up a demo or beta blog on my web server, but it did not stay long. Sure, I had bounced around the idea for some time, but never really acted on it. Then more and more of my friends and family members started blogs. So I guess it is partly peer pressure. But blogging is beginning to sink in, rather it is getting into my system in a way that it may be here to stay. This last weekend I kept feeling like I was forgetting something. Like a book feels when no one reads it. I guess you could call it blogger's itch. I have been feeling compelled to keep this blog on the road. My website (cblounge.com) has also under gone major renovations and a move. Please visit if you have not in awhile.

I want to give a HUGE thanks to my buddy Luke for promoting my website and blog on his blog creation (click here to visit). His blog was a big influence that put me aboard the "blog-train".

I also wanted to congratulate my friend Deb on her getting her citizenship. That is very awesome. Way to go girl! Please give her a warm welcome as she is also a newbie to the blog world. (click here to visit)

A shout-out also goes to my buddy Bobby. We all will be awaiting the next update to his blog. (click here to visit)

Have a great week!

My first blog entry......

Well, greetings, and welcome to my first attempt at a blog....everyone is doing it, so why not me? (Great logic, right?)

Things are going fine in the world of cblounge, I guess. It is summer, it is very hot (yuck!), but it could be worst. I am having a ball with my new mac computer (it is so awesome!). My web site is looking very sharp, and getting regular updates (have ya been yet? no, well go now! (click below).

This week is sure going by quickly, it is Wednesday, with Friday getting closer and closer. Yeah, I guess cb is doin' alright....
