When taxes are too high,
people go hungry.
When the government is too intrusive,
people lose their spirit.

Act for the people's benefit.
Trust them; leave them alone.

“Osman Ratib, professor and chief of nuclear medicine at the University Hospital of Geneva, has co-created a computer software program called Osirix,” writes Osman Ratib for CNN. “It enables medical professionals to view medical images on their iPods, saving them and the hospitals they work for thousands of dollars in expensive equipment.” Link

New Albums Makin’ Some Noise in the cblounge

Okay hip-hop heads, I am here to give you the 411 regarding three fresh albums that have been bumpin’ in the lounge and really raising my spirits. I downloaded these gems from emusic.com. They are also available from iTunes.

Danger Doom - “The Mouse and the Mask

This is a long-awaited collaboration between MF Doom and DJ Danger Mouse, two foundations of hip-hop. The beats and licks on this joint are amazing and solid. Has old school flavor. All of our favorite characters from Adult Swim have their own bits. Special guests include Ghostface, Cee-Lo and Talib Kweli. A must have for your hip-hop collection.

Blackalicious – “The Craft

This is the third record from this West Coast duo, and they just keep getting better and better. This record is much more rock influenced and the rhymes will simply blow you away. Tip: you must check this record out!

Wu Tang Clan – “Think Differently Music: Wu-Tang Meets the Indie Culture

A nice collaboration bringing 3 members of the Wu Tang Clan (RZA, GZA, and U-God) together with a slew of backpacking MCs. Classic Wu beats with the dark and gloom we all love. Production is flawless.

Thursday: Sick Day

What a day is has been. Pretty lousy really. I woke up around 6am feeling like a real train wreck. My head was throbbing and my stomach was very unstable. So I tired to sleep some more, hoping the pain would go away. By 8am I knew that this thing was here to stay, so I called in to the job and went back to bed. For the rest of the day I was in and out of sleep and in and out of the bathroom. It sucked. I could not keep anything down. By late afternoon my stomach felt like it was eating it self. But I did not dare to try and eat or drink anything then. By 4:30 or 5 I was able to get up and get something to drink finally. My stomach was stabilized and my head was feeling little better. So at least the worst was over. I then was able to eat some soup and catch a couple episodes of Law and Order (the old school ones - the best).

Tomorrow is Friday! On top of that is that it is payday! Yeah! Fridays always have a sense of optimism. The weekend is upon us and the idea of fun is on my mind. Maybe even the "Payday Lunch Crew" will decide to go to somewhere besides Pei Wei this week. I can't stand that place. I use to like it. I even introduced it to them. Damn, what a bad move. I really grew to dislike this place and it's food. It is not really that good. I guess I am pretty much done with it. What I can't understand is of the over a hundred restaurants in Addison, why is this place so popular? Oh well, I give up. So cheers to Fridays and Non "Pei Wei" lunches.

Fall is Finally Here!

This past week came and brought us fall weather, finally. And about time, I was really getting sick of the 100 temperatures in late September. But I guess I can’t say too much, I do live in Texas. I do hate the heat. All summer long it is just so damn hot in Texas! Well, back to what I was saying before the distraction. Oh yeah, fall is finally here! And to celebrate the change of season, I got off my lazy butt and did some exercising. Ok, I didn’t go run a marathon or compete in a triathlon.

But I did get out and I started walking again. Both last Saturday and Sunday I went for walks exploring some of my neighborhood. I discovered two very nice parks by my house.

It was just nature, me and my ‘Pod. Some much needed bonding time.

Some views of the walk. It could not have been a better day.

Meet Henry the Turtle. He was very polite and did not move while I took his photo.

And here are the ducks. They were not as kind as Henry. But they were friendly.

I also ran into as little pink gecko, but he decline to be photographed. What a little punk.

New Gadgets in the cblounge: Part 3

Welcome to part 3 in the “New Gadgets” series, which I am very excited to bring you. Part 3 will be highlighting an item that has been the buzz ever since it’s release a month ago. Not only has it been the talk of the town, but also I was bound and determined to get one for myself from the moment I laid eyes on the little guy. It is truly a work of art, form and function. Of course I am talking about the iPod nano, and I received mine earlier this week. It has changed my life.

It is so small, yet can hold a good amount of music for my “on-the-go’ music needs (I bought the 4GB model).

This little music companion is so amazing! Perfect for where ever, when ever. If you haven’t had a chance to check one of these bad boys out, you need to make it happen. I have been assimilated…I belong to the pod people. Resistance is futile.

Quote to Begin the Month

Great quote sent to me by my parents...

"There is a theory which states that if ever anybody discovers exactly what the Universe is for and why it is here, it will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more bizarre and inexplicable. There is another theory which states that this has already happened."

Wu Tang Clan Website

Attention hip hop heads, I ran across the website of the Wu Tang Clan recently, and I am so excited I did. They have been one of my favorite hip hop acts ever since I was graced by the beats and licks of the '36 Chambers' years ago. I guess I have been a little out of the loop on the Wu's recent efforts, but they are dead center on my radar now. You have to check out this site if you appreciate hip hop at all. There is a mess of tracks and videos to enjoy (so you can get your Wu fix), as well as news and tour dates, etc...
